These terms cover the Stillwild website at stillwildcam.pages.dev and the Android app published on Google Play under package ID io.stillwild.app. By creating an account or using Stillwild, you agree to them. Questions: stillwildcam@gmail.com.
1. Who we are
Stillwild (“Stillwild”, “we”, “us”) runs the Stillwild website and Android app. “You” means the person using Stillwild. If you use Stillwild for a group or organization, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.
2. What Stillwild does
Stillwild helps you review trail-camera photos. You can get photos into the app two ways:
- Upload photos yourself (for example from an SD card or your phone). Uploaded photos are saved in the app’s storage on your device. Each one is sent to our species-ID service to be identified; that service does not keep a copy.
- Connect a camera by email. Stillwild gives each camera a private address like cam-…@stillwildcam.com. Photos your camera (or its maker’s app) emails there are stored in our cloud storage (Cloudflare R2 and D1), identified, and synced to the app. They are kept until you ask us to delete them or delete your account.
Your account, sites, tags and camera locations are kept in the app on the device you use. Stillwild also builds activity lists, alerts and short written “Nature Scene” summaries from your tagged photos.
3. Species IDs can be wrong
Automatic species IDs are a convenience, not a fact. Do not rely on them for hunting regulations, safety decisions, or legal compliance.
Stillwild identifies animals with SpeciesNet, an open-source model published by Google. When the model is confident (at the species or genus level), the ID is accepted automatically. Otherwise Stillwild shows a suggestion and asks you to confirm or pick the right animal.
IDs, counts, alerts and summaries can be wrong, incomplete or late because of lighting, blur, camera angle, unusual animals, model limits and other factors. They are not an expert, scientific, veterinary or legal determination. You are responsible for checking anything that matters, such as whether an animal is legal to hunt, whether a protected species is present, or whether a person or vehicle on camera is a real threat. Stillwild is not a security or emergency service; in an emergency, contact local authorities.
4. Your account
- Give accurate information and keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Stillwild. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
- Accounts are stored on the device where you create them. If you clear the app’s storage, uninstall the app, or lose the device, account data and uploaded photos stored only on that device may be lost.
5. Plans, trials and billing
- Hiker — $15/month, up to 2 cameras.
- Ranger Pro — $25/month, up to 10 cameras.
- Research — $35/month, up to 15 cameras, plus CSV export of detections.
Each plan starts with a 14-day free trial. Prices are in US dollars; Google Play may show local prices and add taxes.
Android (Google Play). Paid plans are Google Play subscriptions. Google bills you, the subscription renews each month until you cancel, and you cancel in the Google Play Store (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions). Cancel before your trial ends if you do not want to be charged. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds follow Google Play’s refund policy. If you have a billing problem, email us and we will help where Google Play allows.
Refunds: request within 3 days of purchase through Google Play or by emailing stillwildcam@gmail.com.
Website. The website does not take payment. A trial started on the website runs on that device and is not billed. Paid plans can only be bought through Google Play in the Android app.
If you go over your plan’s camera limit (for example after switching to a smaller plan), extra email cameras are paused and emails to them are refused until you upgrade or remove cameras. We may change prices or plans in the future; Google Play will tell you before a price change affects your subscription.
6. Your photos
You own the photos and other content you add to Stillwild. You give Stillwild a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, copy, transmit, process, identify and display that content only as needed to provide and support the service for you. This permission ends when the content is deleted, except for copies we must keep by law or that remain in short-lived backups.
We do not sell your photos and do not use them for advertising. Your wildlife sightings and camera locations are private to you: we do not publish them or share them with other users. When a site has a region set, only the region (country and state/province) is sent with a photo to improve identification.
7. Your responsibilities for what you capture
Only upload or email photos you have the right to take and share. In particular, you are responsible for:
- Having permission to put a camera where it is, including on private, leased or public land.
- People who appear on your cameras. Follow the laws that apply to recording people, posting notice where required, and do not use Stillwild to watch, track or harass anyone.
- Local laws on trail cameras, trespass, hunting and wildlife (some places restrict cameras during hunting seasons or near water and bait).
8. Your camera email address
- Keep each cam-… address private. Anyone who has it can send photos to your site.
- Use it only for photos from your own cameras or from the camera maker’s app. Do not use it for spam, unrelated files, mailing lists, or other people’s mail.
- Limits apply, currently up to 10 photos and 20 MB per email, 60 emails per hour per camera, and 2,000 photos per day per account. Messages over the limits, or that look like abuse, may be rejected.
- We may pause or disable an address that is misused. When you remove a camera, its address stops accepting mail and is not given to anyone else.
9. Acceptable use
You may not use Stillwild to:
- Break the law, infringe someone else’s rights, or invade anyone’s privacy.
- Harass, stalk or secretly record people, or to poach or harm protected wildlife.
- Upload illegal content, malware, or content that is not trail-camera or wildlife related in bulk.
- Try to access other people’s accounts, cameras, photos or our systems without permission.
- Overload, disrupt, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or get around plan limits, except where the law allows.
- Resell the service or present automated IDs as guaranteed facts to others.
10. Camera makers and other services
Stillwild is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any trail-camera or security-camera maker, including Spypoint, Tactacam, Moultrie, Browning, Bushnell, Stealth Cam, Muddy, GardePro, Vosker, Wildgame and others named in the app. Their names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to describe compatibility. Their cameras, apps and services are governed by their own terms, and they may change features (such as emailing photos) at any time.
Stillwild also relies on outside services, including Google Play (billing), Cloudflare (hosting and storage), Google’s SpeciesNet model (identification) and third-party map tiles and place search. We are not responsible for outages or changes in those services.
11. Backups and export
Keep your own copies of photos you care about. Stillwild is not a backup service. On the Research plan you can export your detections as a CSV file from the Account page. There is currently no one-tap export of all photos.
12. Deleting your account
Use the Delete account & data link on the Account page (or email us). We will delete your account and associated data, including photos stored in our cloud and your camera email addresses, and confirm by email. We may keep limited records the law requires. Choosing “Stop email” for a camera turns off its address right away; photos already stored stay until you delete your account or ask us to remove them.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel it in the Google Play Store so you are not charged again.
13. Suspension and termination
You can stop using Stillwild at any time. We may suspend or close an account, or disable camera addresses, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, misuse the service, create legal risk or harm to others, or if we stop offering Stillwild. Where reasonable, we will tell you first. If we shut down the service, we will give reasonable notice so you can save your data. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) survive termination.
14. Service “as is”
Stillwild is a small, evolving product. We work to keep it running, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability, to the fullest extent the law allows. Photos can be delayed or lost, for example because of camera, cellular, email or network problems. We may add, change or remove features.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Stillwild will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, photos, profits or opportunities, or for decisions made based on species IDs, alerts or summaries. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Stillwild in the 12 months before the claim or US $100. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Oregon, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it locally. Please contact us first; most problems can be sorted out by email.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the service or the law changes. We will post the new version here and update the effective date, and for important changes we will give notice in the app or by email. If you keep using Stillwild after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply.
