This policy covers the Stillwild website at stillwildcam.pages.dev and the Android app published on Google Play under package ID io.stillwild.app. Questions: stillwildcam@gmail.com.
Who we are
Stillwild (“we”, “us”) runs the Stillwild website and Android app, which help you review trail-camera photos, species IDs, activity, alerts and short written “Nature Scene” summaries.
What stays on your device
Your account (email address, display name, password, plan and trial status), your sites, camera setup, tags, camera locations, activity and summaries are stored in the app’s storage on the device you use. Photos you upload yourself (for example from an SD card or your phone) are also saved only on that device. If you clear the app’s storage, uninstall the app or lose the device, that data may be lost. We do not have a copy of it.
Photos your cameras email to Stillwild
Each camera you connect by email gets a private address like cam-…@stillwildcam.com. Photos sent to that address are stored in our cloud storage (Cloudflare R2 and D1), identified, and synced to your app. They are kept until you ask us to delete them or delete your account.
Species identification
To identify animals, each photo is sent to the Stillwild species-ID service, which runs SpeciesNet, an open-source model published by Google, operated by Stillwild. Photos reach it through a Stillwild relay on Cloudflare. The relay copy is deleted as soon as the ID comes back, and any leftover copies are purged automatically within a day. The species-ID service does not keep photos. If a site has a region set, only that region (country and state/province) is sent with the photo to improve the ID. Your exact camera locations are not sent.
Maps and place search
The map loads tiles from Esri (ArcGIS), and place search uses OpenStreetMap Nominatim. Those services see the map area or search text you request, plus your IP address, under their own policies.
Payments
Paid plans are bought only through Google Play in the Android app. Google processes your payment details under Google’s policies, and we never see your card. The app keeps the Google Play purchase token so it can check your subscription. The website does not take payment, and Stillwild does not use Stripe or any other payment processor.
New-account and subscription notice
When you create an account or start a subscription, the app sends one short notice to the Stillwild owner. It contains your email address, display name, chosen plan, whether it is a trial or a Google Play subscription, the time, the app version, the platform (web or Android), and for Google Play purchases the last 12 characters of the purchase token so the order can be matched in Play Console. It is delivered by email through a Google Apps Script service run by Stillwild. Photos, site details and passwords are never included.
Permissions
The live-watch view may ask for camera access on the device you are holding. That feed stays on the device unless you choose to add a photo to a site. You can refuse the permission and the rest of the app still works.
What we don’t do
We do not sell your data and do not use it, or your photos, for advertising. Your sightings and camera locations are private to you. We do not publish them or share them with other users. We share data only with the service providers named above (Cloudflare, Google Play, Google Apps Script, and the map services) to run Stillwild, or when the law requires it.
Deleting your data
To delete your account and data, follow the steps on the Delete account & data page: email stillwildcam@gmail.com from the address on the account. We will delete photos stored in our cloud and your camera email addresses, then confirm by email. Data stored only on your device is removed when you clear the app’s storage or uninstall it. Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel it in the Google Play Store.
Children
You must be at least 13 years old to use Stillwild. It is not directed at children under 13 and is not in Google Play’s Designed for Families program.
